The entry price to the park covers the majority of our attractions but as some attractions are only available to a small number of visitors it would unfairly increase the park entrance cost if we were to make these attractions free.
Attractions which have a small charge include: Pony Rides (£1), Tractor Driving School (£1), Electric Quad Bikes (£1), Dizzy Ducks (£1), Shooting Gallery (£1), Battlefield Live (charges apply after the first 10-minute taster session), Ultimate Adventure Centre Taster Sessions (prices vary).
We love dogs and have lots of border collies on site to help us keep the children and the sheep under control. They are however quite territorial and would likely attack any other dog who comes within range. We also have unvaccinated pups on site and several new born animals who are very tempting to chase for any dog who comes to the site. As a result, we only allow guide dogs onto the main park. We do however have kennels which are free for you to use, these are available on a first come first served basis. Just come down to the reception and ask for a padlock (You will be asked to leave a refundable deposit). There are also areas around the car park for walking the dogs and a field immediately across the road from the car park which can be used to allow the dogs a good run, provided there are no sheep in it at the time.
No animal shows operate during the winter season except during the February half term when limited indoor shows operate. Call 01237 472366 for full details.
The BIG Sheep offers two options for Annual Membership. Please see our Memberships and Offers page for more information.
Yes. Please use our online booking service to purchase advance discounted tickets.
As a family attraction The Big Sheep operates a NO SMOKING policy across the whole park including the outdoor areas. There are four designated smoking areas clearly signposted around the park. Smoking is not permitted in any other outdoor spaces including ride queue-lines. Electronic cigarettes are permitted in outside spaces.
Yes, we love to support our local community fundraising and can donate some BIG Sheep entry tickets for you to use in a raffle, auction or a competition prizes for those charities within a 2-hour drive. Please send a single 1st or 2nd class stamp or a C5 stamped addresses envelope to: Charity Donation Request, The BIG Sheep, Abbotsham, Bideford, EX39 5AP. Or, please pop into The BIG Sheep and see our receptionists. Please refer to our opening times for when our team will be here. We recommend you visit the reception in the afternoons, any time after 1pm as this is usually the quietest time for the team.
We love our planet and try and make it easy for our visitors to recycle their rubbish.
We have two types of waste bins on site:
Please place your empty coffee cups, blue hand towels, plastic bottles, drinks cans, cardboard, paper and plastic in the green bins for recycling.
Half-filled coffee cups or drinks containers, food leftovers and soiled food packaging should all go in the brown bins.
If you are looking to purchase kegs of beer or larger quantities, then the brewery itself is open from 1pm until 4pm during the park opening hours. Call them on 01237 420808 to pre order. Entry is free to the brewery, shop and restaurant.
We have a wide calendar of events throughout the year, if you’d like to exhibit please contact [email protected] for more information.

Yes, it is safe for you to visit. There are a number of areas within The BIG Sheep where you can avoid contact with the animals or simply watch and look at the animals. Pregnant women should not pick up or feed any new born lambs. There is a potential risk at a specific stage of pregnancy if sheep afterbirth is ingested from a sheep carrying transmissible diseases. We have never had any problems here at The BIG Sheep, but we would not like you to take any risks. The number of cases nationally are extremely small, but it is important that pregnant women are aware of any potential risks.
Yes, the majority of The BIG Sheep attraction is undercover. The Ewetopia Indoor Playground is particularly popular on wet days as it’s suitable for both adults and children. Our live shows during the day are either inside the shearing arena which has seating for 250 people or there are shelters for you to watch the shows from around the park. The nursery barn and the brewery are also undercover.
It’s recommend that you bring a coat for the farm safari and the train ride as even though the rides have overhead covers, both sides of the trailer and train are left open, so it can get windy. Unfortunately Rampage Rollercoaster cannot operate in wet weather conditions and The Twister closes in high winds both for the safety of our guests.
Please call 01237 472366 for full details as winter attractions vary. We will happily run through all attractions available to your group and the different ages in your family. We work closely with our sister attraction, The Ultimate Adventure Centre and can often organise or advise activities for teenagers. Our Ewetopia Indoor Playground is open during the winter season. Some rides will operate during the winter season but are limited during wet and windy weather. During the winter season there can be no or very few animals onsite, due to lambing or refurbishment. Call 01237 472366 for full details.
Battlefield Live is perfect for teenagers and adults wanting to run around and have fun. It has been known to be compared to paintballing but without the bruises! The first ten minutes is included in your entry price.
Adjacent to The BIG Sheep, there is The Ultimate Adventure Centre. Discounts are offered for BIG Sheep customers to try various sessions.
Please note, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Families or groups of children are strongly recommended to arrive before 11:30am to watch the Duck Trialling show. Audience participation is a core part of the show.
The doors open daily at 10am and close at 6pm. Please note that our rides close at 5pm and the Ewetopia Indoor Playground closes at 5:20pm. The trampolines, shop, ride on tractors and barn are all open until 6pm.
