Here at The BIG Sheep we host the twice-annual BIG North Devon Wedding Show with over 70 exhibitors bringing great services and products to our EWE2 Arena. So, we thought it was about time we imparted our own wisdom and came up with a list of some of the most popular wedding theme ideas for your BIG day to help inspire you in your wedding planning.
One of the most popular wedding theme ideas of the past few years, brides and grooms everywhere have been embracing lace and pearls to create the most elegant of vintage wedding days. Think ornate place settings, dainty flowers, lace complements, light colours such as pink and peach and plenty of twinkly lights and candles.
Whether you want to go complete wilderness creative or just bring in a modest forest theming to your wedding this makes a great backdrop for your day. A few trees, bowls of pine cones, leaves scattered and if you really want to go all out you could even include woodland creatures and fancy dress (tasteful of course!) to your proceedings!
Think hessian and lace combined with candles and the great outdoors. Wooden benches can line your chosen venue or wooden chairs with hessian and organza sashes make great seating. Keep lighting minimal and rustic with candles in jars, tealights in bulk will go a long way to making your big day look magical from every angle.
Everyone hopes for beautiful sunshine on their big day but even if it’s a bit damp a beach wedding will give the illusion of sunshine even if it’s not. Head to a local beach or go abroad for guaranteed sunshine. Pair light fabrics with blues and golden yellows and theme your children areas with buckets and spades to keep little ones entertained.
Bright colours will complement black and white for your modern big day. Think elegance with pop! Keep it simple in monotone with sleek lines and heavy fabrics or make your venue pop with neon and lights to keep your guests in awe with each changing light. Sunflowers make a great flower for this theme or for the simpler-modern calla lilies!
Deep reds, twinkling fairy lights and sparklers are a great way to set a romantic theme to your wedding. Nothing is more romantic than your big day anyway so choosing the right colours, adding blankets, cosy nights and plenty of soothing music will ensure you get the right atmosphere for your special day.
From September to November is the perfect time of year to have this theme – muted tones, golden leaves, pine cones, deep colour thrown in to add some depth and sunsets to die for. Wrap up warm to keep the cosy feel, maybe have a bonfire, venue dependent. Fireworks would also add a great element to this theme if it’s something you can budget for!
1920s was a roaring decade with speak easys, glamour, feathers, gold, white and black and it makes a great theme for a wedding! Dancing, drinking and parties – they are basically designed for it! So for special theming choose from a small selection of colours, light up the room, think art deco and creating your own speakeasy bar. Maybe even have a dress competition for the evening do!
