The
BIG Sheep Border Collie
All
of the dogs at The BIG Sheep are pure bred collies'. They
vary in colour from the more common black and white to black
and tan. The attraction often have collie pups on display,
some of which are born on the farm. The mothers are pregnant
for just nine weeks and they can continue working up until
the sixth week, they must stop then as they become slow and
the sheep can chase them rather than the other way around!
The puppies are suckled by their mothers for six to eight weeks after which the mothers are usually quite pleased to have them weaned. Most of the dog's are on site to work the sheep, some of which will be sold to large farms when fully trained.
